Global Soft Landing

Innovation without boarders

Considering an expansion to the US market? Philadelphia is the place to be. The city boasts a vibrant startup community with access to a diversely talented workforce and connections to institutions of higher education.

At the center of it all is the Science Center. With programming designed to fit your needs, the Science Center helps international companies establish a foothold in the US market and US companies expand internationally.

Our Global Soft Landing Programs enable companies to form meaningful relationships with stakeholders, and establish a presence in the life sciences and technology markets in and outside of the US.

Collaboration, connection and community are at the heart of the Science Center. We recently joined the American College of Physician’s Startup Advisors Network to further connect our program participants with a wide network of advisors who can offer real-world input on product development. With a newly established relationship with The Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) as part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and 31 shareholders representing the top academic and research institutions, we're regional and collaborative both by nature and design.

Expanding a business into global markets has many challenges. For startups, those challenges are even more daunting. Yet our most innovative entrepreneurs must think globally from the outset to be able to launch and survive global competition.

A partnership between the Science Center and the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians, the Global Startup Accelerator (GSA) is designed to foster the global innovation ecosystem in Philadelphia. The GSA is leveraging the knowledge of successful immigrant professionals and international communities in the region to help local early-stage life sciences and technology startups as they plan for future expansions into foreign markets.

The GSA will pool the region’s knowledge and experience of global markets to create curriculum designed to help scale businesses globally. We’re building tracks to provide connectivity to foreign markets starting with Europe in 2019 and India in 2020.

The Global Startup Accelerator is supported by the Economic Development Administration’s Regional Innovation Strategies program.
