Format
This is an 8-hour virtual course, broken down into four two-hour segments:
Session 1: The Basics
The first session introduces essential concepts of private versus public companies, the role of accredited investors, and the distinctions between angel investors and venture capitalists.
Session 2: Investment Thesis, Deal Sourcing & Due Diligence
This session covers the basics of early-stage investing, investment thesis development, deal sourcing, due diligence, and essential strategies for seed and Series A stage deals.
Session 3: Seed Stage Deals
The session covers foundational concepts, investment thesis development, deal sourcing, due diligence, seed stage and Series A stage deals, and exit strategies for new angel investors.
Session 4: Series A Stage Deals, Negotiating Equity As A Consultant & The Exit
The final session covers essential aspects of startup investing, from thesis development and deal sourcing to due diligence and negotiation, empowering new angel investors to confidently evaluate and manage their investments.
Eligibility
Applicants must certify that they meet the financial requirements of an accredited investor as defined by the SEC.
- Net worth over $1 million, excluding primary residence (individually or with spouse or partner)
- Income over $200,000 (individually) or $300,000 (with spouse or partner) in each of the prior two years, and reasonably expects the same for the current year
