The two artworks are part of a broader placemaking initiative throughout the uCity Square community. In Majesty, the mural at 3624 Market Street highlights a connection between the Science Center, the Penn campus, and the surrounding community and builds on the themes of Innovation Plaza.
Interconnection, at 3701 Market Street, a trompe l’oeil atrium breaks through the side of the building revealing colorful figures that seemingly flow out of the windows and interconnect, depicting them collaborating, learning, and conducting experiments. Art has been, and continues to be, a foundation of uCity Square through collaboration with the Redevelopment Authority’s Percent for Art Program as well as the Science Center’s Esther Klein Gallery BioArt Residency program.
