Futures Without Guns

Working in a variety of mediums, nine artists present new artworks and design propositions envisioning the possibilities for a future free from gun violence. With a focus on Philadelphia, the project invites community members affected by gun violence to share their experiences and, in several instances, inform the artists’ processes.

The exhibition draws on futures thinking and speculative design methods to consider multiple perspectives on and potential solutions to the complex issue of gun violence and health inequity and to amplify the role of art in advancing societal change.

View the exhibition on display from April 18 – June 21.

Community Guidelines Code of Conduct

We want to make the Lounge a comfortable and safe place for all who pass through our doors.

The Quorum Lounge is a place to meet, work, and connect. This community asset is free and open to the public. Quorum’s Community Guidelines & Code of Conduct is our expectation for guests and partners to follow. Should any community member make you uncomfortable or fail to comply with guidelines & Code of Conduct, please alert us using the contact information below.

To enable productive conversations and to serve as a community gathering place, we reserve the right to dis-invite and remove any individual that we feel detracts from achieving its mission or infringes on our Community Guidelines & Code of Conduct. Any acts of discrimination, harassment or other failures to comply may result in the immediate expulsion and banning from Quorum.

Together we can create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and respected—whether that’s sharing our ideas with a group or simply working quietly alone. Every member of this community should be able to enter and leave this space with peace of mind.

Respect Personal Space

While this is a public space, not everyone is here to engage in conversation. We ask that you do your best to recognize when others would prefer not to interact, and if anyone directly states they don’t wish to converse, please honor that.

Be Mindful of Noise Levels

Conversation is welcome but should be kept to a moderate level. Think of the space like an intimate gathering—you don’t need to whisper, but excessive noise is disruptive. If you are listening to music or watching a video, please use headphones.

Refrain From Hard Selling

It’s okay to say what you do, but don’t sell. Initiate and cultivate meaningful connections rather than pitching your product or service. If it feels like selling, it probably is.

Keep Things Tidy

No external cooking devices are permitted. Leave the space how you found it and dispose of any trash. One seat per person. Please do not lay on the couches. Dirty shoes and couch cushions don’t mix well and sprawling out takes up space where others can sit.

Harassment-Free Zone

We are dedicated to ensuring a harassment-free and welcoming experience for everyone. Regardless of, but not limited to, gender identity or gender expression, sex or sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, color, national origin, age, military service, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment in any form.

Report a Violation

While attending a meeting or event at Quorum we recommend that you first contact your event organizer. If you don’t feel comfortable doing so, please see a Quorum staff member or contact us at quorum@sciencecenter.org.
