Melissa Kurman

Impact and Evaluation Manager, FirstHand

Melissa joined the Science Center in 2017. As Impact and Evaluation Manager, Melissa manages the data collection, metric tracking, and reporting necessary to inform and support the impact assessment and fundraising needs of the Science Center’s STEM workforce and education programs. Melissa will serve as the lead content expert in all stages of STEM workforce and education funding applications and will lead the process of defining outcomes and objectives that are relevant, achievable and consistent with funding priorities.


Before joining the Science Center, Melissa was a marine ecologist studying the ability of marine foundation species like Giant Kelp and deep sea corals to adapt to climate change. Melissa earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Temple University and her Master of Science in Biology from California State University, Northridge. When Melissa isn't at the Science Center, you can find her cooking, hiking and playing with her dog.
