Melissa Kurman

Research and Evaluation Coordinator, FirstHand

Melissa joined the Science Center in 2017. As Research and Evaluation Coordinator for the Science Center's FirstHand program, Melissa coordinates all data collection and reporting required to track FirstHand's impact within the Philadelphia community while also supporting fundraising efforts and facilitating some of FirstHand's STEM programs.


Before joining the Science Center, Melissa was a marine ecologist studying the ability of marine foundation species like Giant Kelp and deep sea corals to adapt to climate change. Melissa earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Temple University and her Master of Science in Biology from California State University, Northridge. When Melissa isn't at the Science Center, you can find her cooking, hiking and playing with her dog.
