Political Technical Competition Underway In University City During DNC

Eighteen companies are presenting their best ideas for improving the election process at the University City Science Center.

It’s called the Microsoft American Experiments Challenge.

The companies range from Ballot Ready which is an online voters guide to Azavea, which uses a database of legislative districts to help voters find their elected officials.

David Thornburgh, is President and CEO of the Committee of 70, the city’s political watchdog organization.

“We took the occasion of the DNC to bring together people from all over the country who are trying to make democracy work better. Whether that’s informing voters, or different way of voting, or a different way of encouraging people to run for office.”

Of the 18 companies, six are vying in the American Experiments Challenge, a competition for the best idea for improving the voting process.
