How Covid-19 is reshaping the future of Greater Philadelphia's small events venues

Quorum, the small events venue at the University City Science Center, has retained about 25% of its 2020 business, director Lynette Moore said. Last year, the location held about 430 events at its 15,000-square-foot space, which can combine rooms to accommodate groups of four people up to about 300.

Business completely stopped when the virus first broke out in spring, but throughout summer the West Philadelphia venue has hosted events including the U.S. Census Bureau's employee training, Moore said. The sessions are broken into 24 participants in a socially distanced large room. Traffic flow is mitigated by having people enter through a room’s backdoors and exit through the front. The meeting room is also sanitized during lunch.
