Lunch For Hungry Minds with Dr. Hasan Ayaz

Monday, May 22, 2017 | 3:30 PM-5:00 PM

Using a Brain Imaging Headband to Study Human Interactions

Speaker:

Hasan Ayaz, Ph.D.

Associate Research Professor

Drexel University School of Biomedical Engineering, Science, and Health Systems

Dr. Hasan Ayaz, Associate Research Professor at the Drexel University School of Biomedical Engineering and his team have developed a smart headband device to study brain function in natural environments and, most recently, neural synchronization during conversation. The device uses functional near-infrared spectroscopy to measure neural activity, and potential uses range from doctor-patient communication, to personal news consumption. Dr. Ayaz will present recently published results measuring speaker-listener neural coupling from a collaborative study with Princeton University psychologists, as well as emerging applications for human-computer interaction, mental workload and training assessment.
