Lunch for Hungry Minds: Treatment of Drug-Resistant Infections with Dr. Roy Stevens
Genetically-modified bacterial viruses called bacteriophage offer great potential in treating drug-resistant infections, killing targeted bacteria. Dr. Roy Stevens, Professor of Endodontics as well as Microbiology and Immunology at Temple University, leads a team of researchers that successfully targeted and treated urinary tract infections caused by antibiotic resistant enterococci bacteria. Dr. Stevens will discuss the implications of these studies, which are now being advanced through the start-up company LytPhage.
