Building a Collaborative Innovation Ecosystem: Life Sciences in Japan

Thursday, Jun 06, 2019 | 7:00 PM-12:00 AM

Join us for a very special Venture Cafe Philadelphia in partnership with JETRO

Philadelphia and Kobe, Japan might be a world away from each other, but the cities share a long history, mutual affection and common economic drivers. As Philadelphia and Kobe celebrate the 33rd anniversary as sister cities, we also celebrate both cities’ flourishing life sciences ecosystems. Kobe - and cities across Japan are laser-focused on cutting-edge research like gene therapy and editing that deeply impact local and global healthcare.

Cities including Kobe, Kyoto and Osaka are laser-focused on the cutting-edge research like gene therapy and editing, regenerative medicine and medical devices which will deeply impact the local and global healthcare. These cities are focused on developing global partnerships on behalf of their life science companies and research institutions.

On the heels of the BIO International Convention, we’ll take a look at how Japan has built a collaborative life sciences innovation ecosystem. How do government, corporate, and start-ups contribute to the fabric of Japan’s legacy of innovation? How does that scale to inform global partnerships? We are delighted to collaborate with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to explore these questions through presentations, activations, and light Japan fare and beverages.
