Science Center Welcomes Four New Board Members

PHILADELPHIA (August 6, 2025) – The Science Center, a catalyst for entrepreneurship and healthcare innovation, is pleased to announce the appointment of four new members to its Board of Directors.

These leaders bring a wealth of experience across healthcare, entrepreneurship, and capital engagement—further strengthening the Science Center’s ability to advance innovation globally and drive economic growth across Greater Philadelphia.

Joseph G. Cacchione, MD, FACC was appointed CEO of Jefferson in 2022, an expansive enterprise encompassing Jefferson Health, Thomas Jefferson University, and Jefferson Health Plans which annually serves millions of patients, 8,300 students, and more than 350,000 insurance members across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Dr. Cacchione spearheaded a landmark merger with Lehigh Valley Health Network which transformed Jefferson into a $15 billion health system with 65,000 employees, positioning it among the top 15 non-profit health systems in the nation. Edward A. Chiosso is a partner at KPMG LLP’s Philadelphia office, leading Account Strategy for its national healthcare practice and serving on the global healthcare leadership team. He has worked with health systems, hospitals, life sciences, health tech, and managed care companies. As Global Co-Lead for Assurance and Integrity in Healthcare, Ed collaborates on strategies for financial assurance, internal audits, ESG, risk management, and data governance. Full bio

Anthony (Tony) Lowman, Ph.D., serves as the inaugural Chancellor of Rowan University, where he leads efforts to advance academic excellence, student success, and workforce development. Under his leadership, Rowan has launched both the Virtua Health College for Medical & Life Sciences and New Jersey’s first veterinary school, expanded health-related academic offerings, and integrated innovative practices across disciplines. He has championed entrepreneurship and is guiding Rowan’s pursuit of R1 research status and online growth through the creation of new doctoral programs and significant research funding. Full bio

Carol Lee Mitchell, is a senior executive with 27+ years of global leadership in payments, technology, and financial services. She has held key roles at leading institutions including Bank of America, Mastercard, and United Airlines, driving business growth and innovation for consumers and small businesses worldwide. At Bank of America, she led Small Business Strategy, the Breakthrough Lab accelerator, and national grant initiatives supporting 1.5 million women entrepreneurs and 11 million business owners.
