Before We Pop the Champagne: Science Center’s Key Moments in 2024

2025 is now days away - but before we close the chapter on another year, let’s take a look at how 2024 was a year of innovation, impact, and milestones for the Science Center.

Capital Readiness December 2024 Investors in Residence at Investor Panel

The Power of Networks at the 2024 Nucleus Awards

An evening of celebration, connection, and collaboration: the Nucleus Awards honored four visionary leaders who have made a difference in the local ecosystem. And – crucially – they didn’t make change by themselves. Instead, they leveraged a supportive network to bring transformative change to Philadelphia’s STEM community and beyond.

Building Momentum: 30 Startups (and 14 Investors) Came to Philadelphia

The Capital Readiness Program solidified its credibility as a critical resource for health tech startups by running three successful cohorts in March, June, and December. These 30 startups now count themselves as program alumni and continue to benefit from the Science Center’s guidance and network – several of them joined us at HLTH 2024.

Founders Aging Well: The 2024 Cohort Takes on Longevity and Alzheimer’s

The Founders Fellowship is now in its third cohort – and thanks to a multi-year grant from the National Institute on Aging (NIA), this was the first cohort specifically focused on solutions relating to longevity and/or Alzheimer’s disease. The cohort has just wrapped up its 6-month immersive learning phase, and will now progress into focusing on exploring the commercial potential of their ideas.

10 Years of Impact: Building Belonging and Competency in STEM

It began with a question: can bringing students into a real lab, where homework and grades are left at the door and inquiry-based learning is supreme, help students see themselves in STEM?

With FirstHand™ turning 10 this year, we now have a decade of data to definitively say yes.

Exploring Better Health Outcomes

We hosted three Think Tank discussions exploring Resilient Systems, Scalable Solutions, and Health Science Futures. Through these in-depth conversations, thought leaders and subject matter experts examined how innovation and healthcare stakeholders intersect – and ultimately drive better outcomes for all.
