Michael DiPiano

Managing General Partner and Co-Founder, NewSpring Capital

Mr. DiPiano has been a director of the Science Center since 2005, served as Vice Chair from 2011 to 2019, and currently serves as Chair. He is Managing General Partner and co-founder of NewSpring and a General Partner of the firm’s dedicated growth equity funds. He serves as a member of the investment committee of all NewSpring funds.

Before co-founding NewSpring in 2001, Mr. DiPiano was a serial entrepreneur and investor. He has led or co-led investment into companies in the business services, healthcare and information technology industries. Prior to co-founding NewSpring, Mr. DiPiano was affiliated with Safeguard Scientifics Inc. (NYSE:SFG) and was a division CEO and Director of Chemical Leaman Corporation. He began his career with Baxter Healthcare Corporation (NYSE:BAX), holding numerous positions there, culminating as Vice President responsible for Operations and Sales of the Industrial Scientific Products Division.

In 2018, Mr. DiPiano received the Legend Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technologies.

He has a B.S. from Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A. from the NYU Stern School of Business.
