Charlene Caposecco

Charlene Caposecco joined the Science Center in July 2026.  As Senior Director of STEM Education Initiatives, Charlene leads the FirstHand™ education team and is responsible for program outcomes, growth, and strategy.

Charlene is driven by educational justice and has been working in Philadelphia as a builder of access and opportunities for over 20 years.  First, as Director of Community Programs for BuildaBridge, she supervised teams across multiple sites and created Artology, an interdisciplinary art and biology summer learning program.  Venturing into public schools, she honed her teaching practice and became Director of Experiential Learning at Young Scholars Charter School where she spearheaded school-wide 21st Century transformation and College and Career Readiness initiatives.  She thrives by engineering unlikely connections and innovating curriculum that empowers young people through agency and creative voice.

Charlene earned her Master's in Education from Temple University and a bachelor’s degree in Sculpture from Biola University in Los Angeles.    

When Charlene isn’t at the Science Center, you can find her cooking up creations from her garden, exploring nature with her family, and finding inspiration through art, geeky research, and travel adventures.
