iPRAXIS Spotlighted by Mighty Engine

Philadelphia, PA –August 20, 2012—iPRAXIS is excited to announce that it has been selected as this week’s Spotlighted Non-Profit for local business, Mighty Engine’s 52 Cubed Initiative!

Mighty Engine is a local Philadelphia company that specializes in branding strategy, advertising and digital marketing. They created the initiative 52 Cubed in order to give back to the community in which they work through online donations via Generocity. Mighty Engine helped to build the Generocity website, which allows nonprofits to register for free and create an organization page as a means of fundraising.

Mighty Engine employee, Emily, described the initiative, explaining, “Given our involvement with Generocity, we wanted to take our philanthropy to the next level, thus creating the 52 Cubed initiative. 52 Cubed is where for 52 weeks, we select 52 nonprofits (one nonprofit a week) to spotlight on our website and we donate $52 to that organization. We also encourage others to step up and donate $52 to these worthy nonprofits!”

Each week, different staff members select a nonprofit for Mighty Engine to support. iPRAXIS was selected by Mighty Engine associate Austin because he thinks the iPRAXIS cause is a great one and science education is very important. Furthermore, the Mighty Engine website says that several employees helped found and nurture iPRAXIS, which played a role in selection.

iPRAXIS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation created to foster a love of science, technology, engineering and math in students who attend Philadelphia public and charter schools. iPRAXIS achieves this by recruiting volunteer mentors to enhance middle school learning through projectbased learning science fair projects and related presentations and research. Professionals are also recruited as judges for school based science fairs and for career presentations, both of which expose students to the relationship between their science fair projects and the real world.

This past year, iPRAXIS worked with 600 students on science fair projects in six schools across Philadelphia. 2,000 students were reached through classroom and school presentations. Another 90 students were supported through after school engineering programs.

Join Mighty Engine and their 52 Cubed initiative to help support more Philadelphia students in the sciences. You can make your $52 donation on the iPRAXIS Generocity page at http://www.generocity.org/cbo/organization/?id=5226 # # #
