How new Philly chapter set the bar for Black Girl Ventures' national expansion

The first is a launch party held at Venture Cafe, the weekly entrepreneurial community gathering at the University City Science Center, on Feb 27.

Shelly Bell and her organization, Black Girl Ventures, may be based in Washington D.C., but they’re no strangers to Philadelphia. Bell has spoken at local tech events and held one of BGV’s signature pitch events in the city, but BGV's going bigger in 2020.

BGV just launched a Philadelphia chapter, one of five opening up across the country as part of the organization's grant-backed national expansion.

“The energy [in Philadelphia] has been amazing,” said Bell, a serial entrepreneur and computer scientist.
