Han Cao, founder and chief scientific officer of BioNanomatrix Inc., was in China recently to pick up the Chinese Rising Star Entrepreneur Award at the China International Economic and Technical Cooperation Forum in Beijing.
The award recognized Cao's “entrepreneurial spirit and success” in the founding of BioNanomatrix and the development of the Philadelphia genomics company’s novel genomic analysis technology.
“This is a very great honor for Han and BioNanomatrix,” said Edward L. Erickson, BioNanomatrix’s president and CEO. “We believe that the largest country markets for our products are the United States and China, with China rapidly becoming a world leader in genomics and life science research generally. We look forward to mutually beneficial collaboration with Chinese research institutions and scientists as we commercialize our revolutionary technology."
BioNanomatrix has developed a proprietary technology for analyzing large biological molecules, such as nucleic acids, used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The company’s technology is designed to reduce, significantly, the duration and complexity of analyzing the genome.
