An Update from the Science Center

It is with mixed feelings that we announce today that our President & CEO, Stephen Zarrilli, has resigned to focus on his continued rehabilitation following a stroke in July 2019. Steve has been a member of the Science Center’s Board of Directors since 2014 and after a national search, assumed the role of President and CEO in October 2018. We’re delighted that he will remain a member of the Science Center’s Board of Directors.

During Zarrilli’s recovery, Curt Hess, Senior Vice President for Real Estate Operations, has served as Interim President and CEO, and will remain in this post until the permanent replacement is hired later this year.

“The Board thanks Steve for his service and leadership,” said Mike DiPiano, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “We understand and support his decision to step down to focus on his recovery and are grateful for his many accomplishments while leading the organization. We wish him and his family the very best.”

Zarrilli added, “I have decided that I need to continue to focus my time and energy fully on my recovery. Although a difficult decision, I am deeply grateful to my family for their ongoing support. It has been an enormous privilege to have led the Science Center during this important period of transformation and growth and I am proud to have worked with remarkable colleagues who are committed to our mission. I look forward to remaining on the Board of Directors and contributing to the important work of the Science Center in this capacity.”
