Mr. Marrazzo has been a director of the Science Center since 2013. Since 1997, he has served as Chief Executive Officer and President at WHYY Inc., the leading public broadcasting station serving the Greater Philadelphia region, the State of Delaware and southern New Jersey through television, radio, Web and community services.
Mr. Marrazzo served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Roy F. Weston Inc. from 1988 to 1997. He served as Water Commissioner of the Philadelphia Water Department from 1971 to 1988 and Managing Director for the City of Philadelphia from 1983 to 1984. Mr. Marrazzo has a lifelong commitment to civic and corporate affairs. He has served on several corporate boards including American Water Capital Corp.; American Water Works, Inc., the nation's largest investor owned water and wastewater utility; and AmeriGas, the nation's largest retail distributor of propane.
A leading supporter of civic affairs in Philadelphia, he has served or is currently serving on the boards of the CEO Council for Growth, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and the Philadelphia Education Fund, among others. He has earned honors and awards for his work in corporate and community sectors, including the Wall Street Transcript CEO Gold Award in 1993; Best Philadelphia Department Head in 1986; the National Public Works Leader of the Year Award in 1985; and one of the Top Ten Honorees in International American Water Works Association in 1994. In addition, Mr. Marrazzo was the recipient of the 2001 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Arts Leadership and Service Award.
Mr. Marrazzo holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware and has completed coursework for his master's degree in chemical engineering from Villanova University. He also holds an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Philadelphia University.
