Growing up in Wilmington, Del., Stephen S. Tang was well aware of Philadelphia’s University City Science Center — the nation’s first, and largest, urban research park. His parents, who emigrated from China, were both scientists. His father was a research chemical engineer with the DuPont Co., and his mother was a founding faculty member of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Delaware. “They sparked my interest in the life sciences industry early on,” Tang recalls.
